The Fun and Fierce Friday

Since there is not much to do, posting this entry may kill the time for such a long boring day. It all started the night before the actual day, Friday. It was planned that we were going to come for the Pelangi's Rentak 914 Volume iv CD launching to support not only our friends but other local artists as well. So we went. It was learnt that Izza wanted to come but as expected, she an-gin.

I was all ready to be picked by our huge and muscular driver, Hid-ayah, but only after one and the half hour. Such a long wait, I became so hasty and I almost called off and join Izza's an-gin club. But my patience was very high and I wait and wait and wait... and finally, she came with her piercing look. She wasn't alone. At the back seat was a woman smiling from afar and made me wonder who on earth she was that I lost control of my steps and almost tumbling down the stairs. Owhhhh rupanyaaa si Aysha *Senyum dalam hati saja i*.

As I went into the car, our driver started yelling over something, convincing me that it all happened because of me. So she put me in the spotlight that I caused her tardiness and everything. From my home to Jerudong, she was still yelling and until now I can't remember why... deloo me. All I wanted at that time was  to grab  a  melon and sumbatkan ke mulutnya. Puas jua ati~ Give someone else a chance to say a word! When she talks, it is still like screaming. She has this very very loud voice. She's getting louder each day and people asked why and  I don't know why~ but my theory is; she is getting bigger, so her voice is getting louder. It's weird but true. A day spent with her is like sticking your headset to your i-phone and turn it out loud. A week spent with her, you'd be deaf. She mumbles a lot and that was what actually happened during our journey from my home in Tanjung Bunut to Rimba. It was all hers and I was a bit exhausted listening to her one story and it was long~ In fact, I don't remember what the story was all about because I wasn't paying attention as I was not really interested to know about it or maybe it was damned long that I only listened the beginning part of her story.

Later that night, there was another event, B.mobile's who got talent season 2 competition  top 16. We didn't watch all the performances because it was just okay. Nothing special. Instead of watching a group of dancing teens and listening to someone's singing, we went to the arcade and did some singing ourselves. You really don't wanna see pictures or even watch videos of we singing, it was ... frigging funny. After 5 songs, we then went for a break, we need water except Dai, she needed food so she bought well you know~ that same old waffles.

I guess that pretty much of it. See yaa~

P/S: Congratulation to ABDB for their 49th Anniversary today and today also marked two years since our grandmother left us. Also today, World No Tobacco Day.

Owh Mangrove!

Mangroves are a key player in the life cycle of Brunei Rivers. They have been protected from development and set aside for study and visitor enjoyment in areas adjacent to Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of our country, and also in Brunei Bay, where the rivers from Temburong's National Parks flow into the bay. Comfortable boats provide transport along the deep channels that flow amongst the mangrove islands. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...... 

The mangrove forests along the Bengkurong river have been cleared for development. This is so sad. So sad. Really sad. Even when people asked me to chill I couldn't because knowing the fact about these mangroves being cut down is more chilling. Where are the proboscis monkeys going to live? It's their home that they cut down. Whoever did this is irresponsible and stupid because they only care about the money without considering the consequences of the environment and the wild life. Not only that, it is against Brunei's Heart of Borneo initiative. I hope the authorities will successfully investigate this matter and find out the culprits behind this irresponsible project which does not benefit everyone, the environment and wild life.


Now that the mangroves are gone, the monkeys are surely moving away deeper into the forest. So, what are we going to do with the tourists coming to see the monkeys when we destroyed their homes? I guess.. we just have to put a board on the destroyed mangroves with the picture of the monkeys. I'm saying something like....

10. Baitul Mukarram Mosque, Dhaka City, Bangladesh

This mosque is the National Mosque of Bangladesh. Located in the heart of Dhaka city, capital of Bangladesh, this mosque was founded in the 1960s.

Has a capacity of 30,000 people, this mosque is the top 10 biggest mosque in the world, but still this mosque is too full for Muslim worship there. Because of this, Bangladesh government has decided to add more area for the mosque.

9. Faisal Mosque, Islamabad, Pakistan

Faisal Mosque in Islamabad is the biggest mosque in south east and southern Asia and the fourth largest mosque in the world. It was the largest mosque in the world of 1986-1993 before defeated measure by the completion of the Mosque of Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco and after the expansion of Masjid Al-Haram (Grand Mosque) of Mecca and the Al-Masjid Al-Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Medina, Saudi Arabia in the 1990s.

8. Sultan Mosque, Singapore

Sultan Mosque, located at Muscat Street and North Bridge Road in Kampong Glam Rochor District in Singapore is still considered one of the most important mosque in Singapore. Sultan mosque has stayed essentially unchanged since it was built, only with improvements made to the main hall in 1960 and annex added in 1993. It set as a national monument on March 14th 1975.

7. Baiturrahman Mosque, Banda Aceh, Indonesia

Baiturrahman Mosque is a mosque located in downtown of Banda Aceh, Indonesia. This mosque is a mosque that formerly was a mosque of the Sultanate of Aceh.

When the Dutch attacked the city of Banda Aceh in 1873, the mosque was burned, and the Netherlands rebuild a mosque as its successor. This single-domed mosque can be completed on December 27, 1883. This mosque further extended to 3 dome in 1935. And lastly expanded again into 5 domes in 1959 to 1968.

This mosque is one of the most beautiful mosques in Indonesia, which has a nice shape, carving an attractive, spacious yard and was very cool when was in the room of the mosque.

6. Taj’ul Mosque, Bhopal, India

Taj’ul mosque, is a mosque located in Bhopal, India. This is one of the largest mosques in Asia. This mosque is also used as a madrasa (Islamic school) in the afternoon.

5. Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is the royal mosque for Brunei Sultanate located in Bandar Seri Begawan, capital of the Sultanate of Brunei. The mosque is classified as one of the most spectacular mosques in the Asia Pacific region and become a major attraction for tourists. Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque is considered amongst the people of Brunei as a landmark of their country.

4. Zahir Mosque, Kedah, Malaysia

The mosque was built in 1912, funded by Tunku Mahmud, son of the Sultan Tajuddin Mukarram Shah. This mosque is the tomb of Kedah warriors who had died while defending Kedah from Siam in 1821. The architecture from the mosque inspired by AZIZI Mosque in the city of Langkat in north Sumatra, Indonesia. The mosque was founded with five large domes symbolizing the five main principles of Islam.

3. Al Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem, Israel/Palestine

Al-Aqsa Mosque ( mean the farthest mosque), also known as Al-Aqsa, is an Islamic shrine in the Old City of Jerusalem. In the mosque itself is part of Al-Haram ash-Sharif or “Sacred Noble Sanctuary” (together with the Dome of the Rock), a site which is also known as Temple Mount as the holiest site in Judaism, because it is believed to be the Temple in Jerusalem once stood. The mosque is widely regarded as the third holiest site in Islam. Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad was transported from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca to the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Night Journey. Al-Nabawi mosque is the second holiest mosque in Islam and the second largest mosque in the world after the al-Haram mosque in Mecca. One of the most important place of this mosque is Green Dome (the center of the mosque), where the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad is located. It is not unknown when the green dome was built but a manuscript dating to the early 12th century explain about the dome. Early Muslim leaders Abu Bakar and Umar were buried in the area around the mosque as well.

Simple thing can be the hardest.

'Often what should be the most simplest of things can often be the hardest as well, and choosing what to blog about can be really easy for some people, and really difficult for others.' - Herald. I couldn't agree more. It took me the whole day to come up with an idea about what to blog and up until now, I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with my blog. I guess I'm not that creative like I used to in the past or maybe just that I don't think hard enough what to share in my blog. Hmmm~

The One With All The Movies

It took me 20 days to come up with another brand new entry :S That shows how busy am I in this fast pace and updated world. Ehh obbaa I. Here's another update of my favourite superstar, Sandra Bullock who recently won a Screen Actors Guild Award for her outstanding performance.

Sandra and her husband, Jesse James recently won full legal custody of James' five year old daughter. They were in a battle with James' former porn star and exotic dancer ex wife, Janine Lindemulder.

Here's some facts you may not know about 'The Proposal'.

- Before “The Proposal,” it had been five years since Rockport’s rugged coastline and quaint downtown shops served as a backdrop for a major Hollywood production. The last film shot in Rockport before “The Proposal” — 2003’s “Stuck on You” starring Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear — from 20th Century Fox, gave $5,000 to Rockport, which selectmen used to renovate Boy Scout Hall.

- Since “The Proposal,” two other movies have been filmed in Rockport. Mel Gibson’s “Edge of Darkness” due out in theaters on Jan. 29 2010 (today) and “Hatteras Hotel” — a murder mystery shot for the most part at Rockport’s Emerson-Inn-by-the-Sea. That film’s title has now been changed to “The Last Harbor.”

-  Julia Roberts was reportedly the first choice to play Bullock’s character in “The Proposal.” According to the Los Angeles Times, Roberts refused to star in “The Proposal” unless Disney offered her a higher salary; Disney hired Bullock for even less money than it had offered Roberts, and “The Proposal” became one of the highest-grossing romantic comedies ever.

Avatar is the most expensive movie ever made, ranging around 350 - 500 millions budget and is now the top grossing movie ever beating Titanic (1.8 billions). The director is non other than James Cameroon, who is the director for both Titanic and Avatar.

Sandra Bullock is 2009's top star.

Sandra Bullock, nicknamed as 'America's Sweetheart' shined as 2009's top Hollywood star at the box office after two-year absence from screens. This is based on top money making stars. Bullock beat out George Clooney and Denzel Washington on the strength of her roles in "The Proposal" and "The Blind Side". Romantic comedy "The Proposal" made $315 million at worldwide box offices following its June release and football drama "The Blind Side" has made $193 million ONLY in the US and Canada since its Nov 20 release, with its roll-out in other countries still to come. Bullock who also starred in the 2009 comedy "All About Steve" with its $34 million take in the US and Canada.

Well it is obvious that 2009 had been a year for Bullock and will continue the momentum in 2010 as Bullock's "The Blind Side" is yet to be released worldwide. I'm happy for her. I love her since Miss Congeniality. Then came Miss Congeniality 2 a couple of years later and now I'm waiting for the Miss Congeniality 3, if there's any. She also starred in "The Lake House". Not only she starred in these movies but she is also one of the people behind it, excetuvie producer. Similarly like "The Proposal", "The Blind Side" and "All About Steve" were all her works. I'm glad that she's back. Hope to see more of her in the future.

Anne Hathaway - Will see her in Valentine's Day, February 2010.

Lisa Kudrow - Just received a webby award for her role in 'Web Theraphy' where she also the executive producer.

Reese Witherspoon - No idea where she is up to now.

Sex and The City 2 will be out some time this year after a successful first movie in 2008. I wonder when F.R.I.E.N.D.S will be brought to the screen. There's rumours about it but I don't know! We just wait and see in 2011, the same year when the next Spiderman movie will be released. Hopefully my next post, if time permit, I will share my top 10 movies and songs of 2009.

First 2010's entry :) 

Did you realise that the last three public holidays (Aidil Adha, Hijrah and Christmas) were all on Fridays? Even today, New Year falls on a Friday? If you didn't realise that, then maybe it's time for you to be aware of that. Speaking of Hijrah and New Year, I can see people have different views between both. Just take a look at your FB homepage. Some say 'What's with all the hype of New Year 2010, during Hijrah was not as hot as this?' I have to agree with that, there were pictures where I was tagged wishing happy 2010 but I didn't see people came up with that sort of pictures-tagging during the New Islamic Year.

Well, who's to blame? I just think that 1) some Muslims are being ignorance of the New Hijrah Year and I also think 2) some people are too ego to 'celebrate' or even say Happy 2010. 

The ego people are annoyed about how happening it is during this New Year 2010 celebration when compared to Hijrah. I can understand that but don't you think that the masihi year deserve a little appreciation from these ego sort of people? Afterall, you are using it everyday like your birthday, anniversary, father's day, mother's day, HIV day and any other ocassions such as our National Day is using the greek year too, we  have never celebrated our National Day using Hijrah date (only used as a 'coressponse to'). See.. I don't see anything wrong. Think of it just as a universal year. I may not be you know an 'alim-ulama' but this is my opinion because I'm the kind of guy who sees things and share with others. Little do they know that these people who say they don't wish or celebrate new year are actually celebrating it without realising it. As part of the New Year's celebration, most stores have this 'Year End Sale' as to celebrate the closing  year and ushering of the New Year. So technically, the money they have spent during the Sales are actually the celebration of the New Year. Bowh~

On the ignorance part - It's true! Some Muslims don't even know what Hijrah year we are in. Oh btw, it's 1431H. Some might think that this is sad, only few of the Muslims actually updated their status wishing the 1431H when compared to the hype world wide 2010 celebration. I don't think that is the sad thing to be sad about. It's the number of people who actually showed up at mosques or suraus during the Maal Hijrah. You can't just be someone who is against this non-islamic events and at the same time you don't do your part as a  true Muslim. Status doesn't mean a thing. You can type whatever you want, you can annoy people by updating your status every five minutes and so on. It's one's role that actually can make a difference.

Don't think that the grass on the other side is greener. Think that the grass on BOTH sides are always green. *Terms and conditions apply :P That's why I am always aware when new Hijrah year comes and at the same time just a minimal fun when celebrating New Year. It's still not too late to wish you all Selamat Menyambut Maal Hijrah and bagilah salam, Assalamualikum and kata-kata Bismilah when entering 2010. 

Assalamualaikum and Bismillah 2010, may we all live as one.
